The Meaning Behind Song: Ed Sheeran – Perfect

Is new “Thinking Out Loud”?

Ed’s third album entitled “:” or commonly called the divide is indeed quite diverse and surprising. Some people say this album is disappointing because it feels that Ed left the quality of his music brought on the previous 2 albums. Some like this latest album because it’s more easy listening and pop-ish. Evidently Ed spawned a number of hits from his album including songs that I would discuss further namely “Perfect

Naah, answering the questions at the beginning, Ed himself admitted that he hoped that the song “Perfect” could be a substitute for the song “Thinking Out Loud” which was a huge success. Try it for you guys to be married to your friends or relatives, mostly there must be a ToL song which is one of the wedding song setlist. From that success (or it could be said as overplayed as the ToL song until Ed Bosen haha) he finally made the song “Perfect” which from the beginning he mentioned would beat the song “Thinking Out Loud”.

Is Ed Sheeran a success? Hmm, it seems like a success. 🙂
This song “Perfect” managed to dominate many charts and became a compulsory song for couples in love. This is where Ed recycled a number of times the song “Perfect”, both collaboration with Beyonce, whose title was “Perfect Duet” or until an orchestra version was made along with Andrea Bocheli. But does this song have the same meaning as Ed’s romantic song before?

The song “Perfect” itself was actually addressed to Ed’s girlfriend, now Cherry Seaborn. The point is Ed’s love journey which turned out to be a little friend of Cherry who eventually became his current girlfriend. In this song, it was also explained how much Ed’s love for Cherry was. Can this be the song of the guys out there to copy the girl.

Let’s just see more in the meaning of the lyrics of this song:

I found a love for me
Oh darling, just dive right in and follow my leads

The second line of this song rather mixes a number of elements from Ed’s song on the Divide album, “Dive” and “Shape of You”. Why is “Shape of You”? Do you want to remember the lyrics of the song in the bridges section? (love it or hate it, you might remember that song’s lyric, haha).

Now the Follow My Lead section shows that Ed is the one who is in a more dominant position and the person who first made the move in this relationship.

Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet
Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me
Ause Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time

So, a little background story about Ed and Cherry’s relationship, they really did know from childhood and both went to the same high school in Suffolk. But they have to be separated because Ed left school and focused on becoming a full musician and then moved from the city. After the success Ed returned to his childhood town and found out that Cherry was still waiting for love from Ed. Oh yeah, they’re dating. Feel FTV huh? ha ha ha. But maybe this is one proof of real love that exists.

Baby, I’m dancing with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song

Well after they were dating, Ed had a vacuum from the entertainment world while and was really quality time with Cherry. In one interview, Ed explained some of his previously failed relationships due to his busy career, and that did not want to happen again in his relationship with Cherry.

Then in the second sentence many people ask, what are their favorite songs
